Highlights

A few mods worth a closer look. Read a mod's own page for its exact requirements before you install it.

A bridge for older mods

Valheim 1.0 Compatibility

Project name: MigrationStation

Lets pre-1.0 mods load and run on Valheim 1.0 without recompiling.

  • A BepInEx preloader patcher. It rewrites the game's assemblies in memory, before any game code runs, and restores the method shapes that 1.0 took away.
  • Plugins compiled against 0.221.12 and earlier load and run without being recompiled.
  • Not a gameplay mod: it changes nothing you can see. Install it when your utility mods break on 1.0 and their authors have not shipped 1.0 builds yet, and remove it when they have.
  • It will not guess. If a bridge cannot carry the old meaning across, it is not injected. Needs BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350 or newer.

Flight overhaul

Wings of the Valkyrie

Four tiers of upgradable runic wings, and a Valkyrie Flight skill that grows with every wingbeat.

  • Four craftable tiers. Troll, Lox and Dragon wings need Valkyrie Flight levels (15, 30 and 50 by default) to beat, but always unfurl and glide, so nobody is ever grounded, only slowed down.
  • Altitude is earned. At skill 0 you reach roughly a third of a tier's ceiling, and the ceiling rises with every level.
  • A logbook of your saga records time flown, distance, wingbeats, highest altitude and more. Read it in game with the wov console command.
  • Recent versions let the wings ride in the trinket slot instead of on your back. The server decides whether they may. No Jotunn needed, and every stat is server-enforced config.

World generation

Better Continents

The tools to improve Valheim's terrain generation, and to override it with image maps: precise control over height, biomes, location placement and forest coverage.

  • Replace or augment the vanilla landmasses with custom heightmaps, biome layouts, spawn placements and layered noise.
  • Recent versions add per-biome height noise (mountains keep their jaggedness while towns and coasts stay true to your map), a location exclusion mask, and a Deep North cold map.
  • Lakes above sea level, ported from Tarn. Targets Valheim 1.0, server-synced.

Its successor, BetterWorlds , is on Hexium. See its page for its current state.

Credits and license Originally created by billw2012, maintained by JereKuusela, and modernized for Valheim 1.0 by Wubarrk. Lakes come from Tarn, by Raven Iron (Wubarrk and NomadicWar). Free software under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 (LGPL 2.1).

Taming and breeding

Dvergr Allies

Tame, breed, and lead an army of custom Dvergr warriors.

  • Tame wild Dvergr with Coins, Cooked Meat, Sausages or Yggdrasil Wood, then breed them.
  • Offspring can mutate into custom classes: the Warrior, the Cleric, the fire or ice Spellsword and the Elemental Mage. Two Warriors can make a Berserker.
  • Their gear grows with their star level. A 0-star Warrior wields a Bronze Sword; a 2-star one a Blackmetal Battleaxe.
  • Would rather not breed? Buy a Dvergr Contract from Haldor for an instantly tamed, random class. Clerics pulse area healing over time.

Portal network

TortalPortal

A complete overhaul of Valheim's portal network. Know the road before you walk it.

  • Walk up to any portal and a window lists every portal in the world, with the great map beside it marking your chosen destination.
  • Each portal keeps a photograph of where it comes out, so you see the country before you step through.
  • Favorites, per-portal PIN locks, and map icons of your own.
  • Server-synced. A live view of the destination is experimental and off by default.

Endgame expansion

Mists of Avalor

A procedurally generated crypt-labyrinth of black stone, suspended in a forsaken sky-realm beyond Midgard.

  • True 3D generation: one to three vertical levels joined by stone stairways, with pillared combat arenas, hidden spike traps and locked crypt vaults.
  • Every dive is different, and the realm is generated far out at X: 30,000, so it never touches your overworld base.
  • You always land on a solid stone landing pad. Requires BepInEx and Jotunn; server-synced for multiplayer.

Client-side graphics

Graphics Overdrive

Unlock every graphics dial in Valheim: upscaling, frame generation, hardware ray tracing and in-game auto-tuning.

  • Opens over 120 engine and graphics settings, in a streamlined Basic menu or an Expert menu with live sliders and FPS and VRAM readouts.
  • Built-in FSR 3 and DLSS upscaling and frame generation, plus hardware ray-traced shadows and reflections.
  • Test and Tune: an automated benchmark flight through every biome, and an Auto-tune that looks for the best settings for your target frame rate.
  • 100% client-side.

    VALtima Online Alpha

A tribute to Ultima Online: Britannia rebuilt in Valheim.

    • UO's towns at building scale, made from Valheim's own pieces, with townsfolk working at their trades, vendors, and a bank where you say bank to a banker.
    • Eight moongates at UO's eight places, and one more on the start island.
    • Despise, up a cliff path north of Britain, and Britain's graveyard: dungeons that fill again after you clear them.
    • Fame, karma, quests and treasure maps, with UO's skill titles on your name plate.

VALtima is an early alpha. It runs on a VALtima server (its world comes through Better Worlds), and your game needs the VALtimaOnline mod to see it.

VALtima Online is an unofficial fan tribute. It is not made, sponsored or endorsed by Iron Gate, Coffee Stain, Origin Systems or Electronic Arts.
